Written Answers. - Hip Replacement Operations.

Paul McGrath

Question:

203 Mr. McGrath asked the Minister for Health the number of patients awaiting hip replacement operations in the Midland Health Board area; the average waiting time for this operation; and the proposals he has to shorten the waiting time.

At present, there are 81 patients on the waiting list for hip replacement operations in the Midland Health Board area. The average waiting period is six to seven months. However, urgent cases are admitted sooner — usually within one to two months.
