Vol. 407 No. 9

Written Answers. - Dublin Road Accident Statistics.

Roger T. Garland

Question:

176 Mr. Garland asked the Minister for the Environment the number of road accidents in Dublin's north inner city for the years 1960, 1970, 1980 and 1985 to 1990 inclusive; and the number of fatalities which occurred in each year, including the number of (1) cyclists, (2) pedestrians and (3) children who died as a result of these accidents.

This information is not available.

The Environmental Research Unit's annual publication, Road Accident Facts Ireland, contains detailed statistics on the numbers of persons killed each year on Irish roads. The report includes information on the number of persons killed and injured in each county, the numbers of pedestrians and cyclists killed or injured annually together with details of the age of all road casualties.

Copies of the 1989 report are in the Oireachtas library. The 1990 report will be published later this year.
