Vol. 410 No. 4

Written Answers. - Rate Support Grant.

Bernard Allen

Question:

65 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for the Environment if he will outline the rate support grant given to (1) Cork Corporation and (2) Dublin Corporation in each year from 1979 to 1991.

I refer to the reply to Question No. 166 of 15 November 1988 for details of rate support grant payments for the years 1980 to 1987, to Question No. 57 of 20 June 1991 for the amounts paid in 1990 and to Question No. 198 of 27 November 1990 for the 1991 allocations. The information requested in respect of 1979, 1988 and 1989 is set out in the following table. The rate support grant varies from local authority to local authority because of differences in valuation levels and in rate poundages applied by authorities over the years. These variations together with variations arising from other changes in local finances in recent years are reflected in differences in the rate support grant payments to individual local authorities.
