Vol. 410 No. 7

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Frank Crowley

Question:

58 Mr. Crowley asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if he will give consideration to an application for a beef premium by a person (details supplied) in County Cork.

This applicant and his wife who are joint registered herdowners have been paid 1990 special beef premium on 42 animals. They have been deemed ineligible for payment on ten animals because they had been earpunched for premium already.

Additional animals entered on a 1990 cattle and equines headage application could not be accepted as eligible for special beef premium.

Ivan Yates

Question:

59 Mr. Yates asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when payment of a farm improvement grant will be made to a person (details supplied) in County Wexford; and if he will expedite payment.

The grant will be paid within the next few days.

Paul Bradford

Question:

60 Mr. Bradford asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if, as a result of the recent changes in the regulations governing the operation of the 1990 beef premium scheme, a person (details supplied) in County Cork who was refused payment for 25 cattle, will now be paid.

The concession given by the EC Commission recently does not provide for payment of grants under the 1990 special beef premium scheme on 24 animals sold by this applicant without submitting their cattle identity cards to my Department for inspection and punching as required. He was not paid 1990 special beef premium on the remaining animal because this animal had been earpunched for premium already.

Austin Deasy

Question:

61 Mr. Deasy asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if he will examine the amount of grant aid being paid to a person (details supplied) in County Waterford in respect of serious storm damage to his land and protective embankment by the storms of December 1989 with a view to having the amount payable maximised.

I have had the matter examined and, taking all the circumstances into consideration, I am satisfied that the amount paid to the person named was maximised.

Michael Finucane

Question:

62 Mr. Finucane asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when a special beef premium will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Limerick.

Michael Finucane

Question:

63 Mr. Finucane asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when a special beef premium will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Limerick.

I propose taking Questions Nos. 62 and 63 together.

As these applicants have failed to submit cattle identity cards for all the animals listed on their 1990 special beef premium applications they have been deemed ineligible for payment under that scheme.

Michael Finucane

Question:

64 Mr. Finucane asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when a special beef premium will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Limerick.

Under the concession given by the EC Commission recently this applicant may now be paid 1990 special beef premium on the animals retained by him for a period of two months. Premium will be paid at a reduced rate of 80 per cent and payment will issue shortly.

Michael Finucane

Question:

65 Mr. Finucane asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when a special beef premium will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Limerick.

This applicant has been deemed ineligible for payment under the 1990 special beef premium scheme as he sold his animals without submitting the cattle identity cards to my Department for inspection and punching as required.
