Vol. 410 No. 7

Written Answers. - Sligo Town Renewal.

Edward Nealon

Question:

102 Mr. Nealon asked the Minister for the Environment if he will consider the extension of the designated areas for urban renewal in Sligo town in the area of the quays where considerable amounts of property and space are in single ownership in view of the fact that this should lead to greater take-up of the incentives available and lead to quicker development.

Question:

103 Mr. Nealon asked the Minister for the Environment if, in view of the potential of the Sligo harbour area and the greatly improved access with the new third bridge, he will extend the designated areas for tax concessions for urban renewal in Sligo borough to this area.

Edward Nealon

Question:

117 Mr. Nealon asked the Minister for the Environment if he will outline the specific areas in Sligo town designated under the special arrangements for urban renewal; and whether there are any proposals for an extension of this area.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 102, 103 and 117 together.

The areas in Sligo town designated for the purposes of urban renewal are defined in the Urban Renewal Act, 1986 (Designated Aras) Order, 1988 (S. I. No. 92 of 1988). I will arrange to have a map outlining these areas sent to the Deputy.
I have no proposals to extend the urban renewal scheme to further areas in Sligo.
