Vol. 411 No. 1

Written Answers. - Naas (County Kildare) Fire Station.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

487 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for the Environment if he has received the revised proposals for the provision of a new fire station at Naas, County Kildare; if these proposals incorporate a reduction in cost compared with earlier submissions; the reason earlier submissions were not acted upon by way of financial response from his Department; whether the present proposals are likely to meet the approval, and if the necessary finance will be allocated either in the current year or in 1992; if his attention has been drawn to the need to respond favourably on this issue in the near future; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

There are no proposals before my Department from Kildare County Council for the provision of a new fire station at Naas. In regard to the most recent proposals, the fire authority was informed on 11 September last that they were unacceptable on grounds of site unsuitability and cost.
