Vol. 411 No. 1

Written Answers. - Operation Date.

Gerry O'Sullivan

Question:

555 Mr. G. O'Sullivan asked the Minister for Health if he will outline when a child (details supplied) in Cork will be called for an operation at Our Lady's Hospital for Sick Children, Crumlin, Dublin 12.

I have had inquiries made of Our Lady's Hospital, Crumlin in connection with this case. The hospital authorities have indicated that this patient will be admitted for surgery within the next six months.

The admission of an individual patient to hospital is, of course, a matter for the hospital authorities and the consultant concerned, having regard to the urgency of the case and the patient's position on the waiting list. If the patient's condition is a cause for concern, it is open to his general practitioner to contact his consultant in order to stress the urgency of the case.
