Question:595 Mrs. T. Ahearn asked the Minister for Education if she will outline the real cost of provision of places in the various third level institutions; and if she will make a statement on the matter.
Written Answers. - Third Level Places.
Given the major differences in costs between courses within third level institutions, figures showing the cost of the provision of places in the various institutions would be misleading. A unit cost study on a course basis for the institutions in the HEA sector will be completed later this year.
In addition, a unit cost study is being undertaken for other third-level institutions. It is envisaged that more meaningful information will be available at that stage relating to the cost of the provision of places in each institution.
