Brian O'Shea

Question:

619 Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for Education if she intends paying the special grants to schools in disadvantaged areas in the year 1991-92; and if so, when.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 618 and 619 together. The total amount of special grants paid to primary schools in disadvantaged areas in the school year 1990-91 was £964,713.

The number of pupils attending the schools in question was 57,857.

It is intended that payment of grants to primary schools in disadvantaged areas in respect of the 1991-92 period will take place before the end of the current financial year.
