218 Tomás Mac Giolla asked the Minister for Education the way in which she intends to respond to concerns expressed by the Second Commission on the Status of Women about sex-stereotyping in school text books and the primary school curriculum.
I established a working group in December 1988 to examine the level of sexism and sex-stereotyping in textbooks and teaching materials in national schools. The group have now completed their work and submitted their findings and recommendations.
When I have had an opportunity of considering the report I intend making it available to all interested parties.
