Question:220 Tomás Mac Giolla asked the Minister for Education whether she has given guidance to school staffs at primary and post-primary level on the recognition and reporting of posssible cases of child sexual abuse.

At primary level procedural guidelines for teachers in relation to child abuse have been agreed and a circular to all primary schools will issue very shortly.
Drawing on this experience guidelines for post-primary schools will be prepared in consultation with management, parents and teachers.
