182 Mr. Byrne asked the Minister for Education the present position of the proposed merger of two schools (details supplied) in Dublin 12 having regard to the reply to Parliamentary Question No. 180 of 20 February 1991; and if he will confirm that sufficient finance will be made available for this project to proceed.

My Department have recently been informed by the trustees of one of the schools involved that they have decided to phase out this school and therefore the amalgmation is not taking place.

It will now be necessary to review the post-primary educational needs of the area in the light of this most recent development.
