Vol. 413 No. 5

Written Answers. - Teacher Increment Request.

Noel Dempsey

Question:

196 Mr. Dempsey asked the Minister for Education if he will give increments to a person (details supplied) in County Meath who has over 600 hours of service in each of the years (1) 1981-82, (2) 1982-83, (3) 1984-85, (4) 1985-86, (5) 1986-87 and EPT service in 1987-88 with Meath Vocational Education Committee, in view of the fact that such service would be sufficient in the secondary sector; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

My Department have not received any claim for incremental credit from the teacher referred to in the question. On receipt of an application my Department will consider the case on its merits.

I should point out, however, that incremental credit if allowed will be limited to: (a) all approved service as a fully qualified eligible part-time teacher from 1 September 1987; and (b) a maximum of three years in respect of reckonable part-time service prior to 1 September 1987.
