Vol. 413 No. 6

Written Answers. - State Bodies' Staff Uniforms.

Ivor Callely

Question:

143 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Tourism, Transport and Communications (1) the location where uniforms which are used by all State and semi-State bodies under the aegis of his Department are manufactured, (2) the source of supply and place of origin of the materials used for the uniforms, and (3) the total cost of supply and the quantity of uniforms supplied in 1990.

Uniforms, which are only required by the messenger grade in my Department are supplied by the Office of Public Works. I understand that the materials used for the uniforms are provided by an Irish weaving company and the uniforms are made up by an Irish clothing manufacturer.

The total cost of uniform items purchased by my Department in 1990 was just under £124.

I have no function in relation to the provision of uniforms for the staff of semi-State bodies under the aegis of my Department.
