Vol. 413 No. 7

Written Answers. - Angiogram Appointment.

Gerry O'Sullivan

Question:

30 Mr. G. O'Sullivan asked the Minister for Health the reason a person (details supplied) in Cork cannot be facilitated for an angiogram at the Cork Regional Hospital; when an appointment will be arranged in this case; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

The position in relation to the provision of coronary angiography at Cork Regional Hospital is that the X-ray equipment in the angio-room is currently not functioning at full capacity. My Department have recently approved a capital grant of £500,000 to replace X-ray equipment at Cork Regional Hospital, including equipment for the angio-room. This equipment has been ordered and is expected to be installed within one month.

I understand from Cork Regional Hospital that the patient referred to is on a waiting list and will be given an appointment date as soon as possible.
