Question:69 Mr. Flanagan asked the Minister for Health the grounds under which she has sought to exact £3 million from the VHI; and if she will make a statement on the matter.
Written Answers. - VHI Contribution of Health Capital Programme.
The Voluntary Health Insurance Board have been requested to make a contribution of £3 million towards the cost of the health capital programme in 1991.
The contribution will assist in the upgrading and expansion of facilities for private and semi-private patients in public hospitals.
Discussions with the VHI on the benefits which will accrue to members as a result of the making of this contribution are at an advanced stage. I hope that the matter will be concluded shortly.
