Vol. 414 No. 6

Written Answers. - Navan (Meath) School.

Colm M. Hilliard

Question:

136 Mr. Hilliard asked the Minister for Education the up-to-date position on the building programme for St. Ultan's special national school, Flower Hill, Navan, County Meath in view of the fact that (1) in 1986 his Department agreed to replace the prefabricated buildings there with permanent classrooms and (2) a recent report from architects of the Office of Public Works condemned these prefabricated buildings as being multi-defective.

I am aware of the situation in relation to St. Ultan's special national school, Flower Hill, Navan, County Meath and have read the various architectural reports. The question of the replacement of the existing prefabricated classrooms with permanent accommodation is being considered in consultation with my Department's special inspectorate and a decision in this regard will be conveyed to the school authorities at the earliest possible date. In view of the Deputy's interest in this matter, I will advise him of developments.
