Written Answers. - Disposal of Animal Carcases.

Question:

181 Mr. Garland asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if he will give details of (1) the number of cattle that were destroyed in each county over the last five years and (2) the manner in which the carcases were disposed.

Statistics on the number of cattle condemned in each county over the last five year are not readily available but I will convey these figures to the Deputy as soon as possible.

Condemned carcases are sent to rendering plants.

182 Mr. Garland asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if he will outline the current approved method for the disposal of condemned animal carcasses.

Carcases of animal's presented for slaughter which are condemned are disposed of at rendering plants.
