Vol. 415 No. 7

Written Answers. - Disadvantaged Areas Scheme.

Liam Aylward

Question:

218 Mr. Aylward asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if it is the intention of his Department to have the district electoral divisions of Clogh, Mooneenmore, Castlecomer and part of Dysart in north Kilkenny reclassified as severely disadvantaged in the present reclassification scheme; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The disadvantaged areas appeals panel have received numerous appeals in respect of areas which were not included in the recent reclassification. When the listing and processing of these appeals is completed the panel will review each area under appeal and make recommendations to my Department for submission to the EC Commission as to the areas to be reclassified. At this stage, I am not therefore in a position to anticipate what recommendation may be made by the panel in regard to the district electoral divisions of Clogh, Mooneenmore, Castlecomer and part of Dysart in north Kilkenny.
