Vol. 416 No. 3

Written Answers. - Doneraile (Cork) Garda Strength.

Paul Bradford

Question:

81 Mr. Bradford asked the Minister for Justice if his attention has been drawn to the concern being expressed by Doneraile Community Development Association, Doneraile, County Cork, at the inadequate Garda strength in the Doneraile area; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The Garda authorities inform me that the current Garda strength at Doneraile is one sergeant and one garda. They inform me also that Doneraile is regularly patrolled by mobile units from the local district headquarters station at Mallow and they are satisfied that the current policing needs of Doneraile subdistrict are being adequately met. I am informed that while the Garda authorities have no plans to increase the Garda strength at this station at present, the situation is being kept under continuing review.
