John V. Farrelly

Question:

88 Mr. Farrelly asked the Minister for the Environment if he will outline the number and names of projects which have been submitted to his Department by Meath County Council for, (a) water schemes, (b) sewage schemes, (c) local authority home building schemes, (d) special grants for road repairs and building, (e) provision of new fire stations and (f) provision of new libraries, and if he will further outline the total cost involved and the number of these projects which will be approved in 1992.

The information requested is as follows:

(a) Public Water Schemes: Kells-Oldcastle, Stage 2; East Meath Regional, Stage 5; Trim; Batterstown; Curragha (Borehole); Enfield (Borehole); Summerhill.

(b) Public Sewerage Schemes: Navan; Trim (Extension); Dunboyne-Clonee; Batterstown; Bohermeen; Oldcastle.

The Kells-Oldcastle water supply (stage 2), east Meath regional water supply (stage 5) and Navan sewerage (advance section) schemes are under construction. The allocations for public water and sewerage schemes for 1992 have not yet been notified. The total estimated cost of all these schemes is £17.2 million.

(c) Local authority home building schemes: there are no proposals for local authority housing schemes awaiting approval. The local authority housing construction allocations for 1992 are being notified to housing authorities; it will be a matter for these authorities to nominate the schemes they propose to commence in 1992 within their allocations.

(d) Special grants for road repairs and building: there are no requests for special road grants with my Department.

(e) Fire Stations: Kells (2 Bay). The council's estimate of the cost of the proposals, which is under examination, is £316, 516.

(f) Branch Libraries: Ashbourne, Dunshaughlin, Oldcastle and Laytown

The total cost of these proposals is £1.174 million, which includes the provision of buildings and bookstock.
