Vol. 416 No. 4

Written Answers. - Teachers' Centres.

Jimmy Deenihan

Question:

80 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for Education if he will recognise Tralee as a location for a central teachers' centre for Kerry; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The number of centres has been increased recently from 20 to 24 and, within that, the number which are operating on a full-time basis from four to six.

My Department is currently undertaking a review of the operation of teacher centres; this review will include the question of the geographical spread of centres. When progress has been made on this review, it will be possible to say if further expansion can be provided for within the resources available.
