Vol. 416 No. 4

Written Answers. - School Disadvantaged Status.

Brian O'Shea

Question:

83 Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for Education if he will grant disadvantaged status to a school (details supplied) in County Waterford; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

All schools seeking disadvantaged status, including the one mentioned by the Deputy, were placed in order of priority on the basis of socio-economic and educational indicators of disadvantage. The school in question did not rank sufficiently highly on the priority listing to qualify at present under the schemes for schools in disadvantaged areas.
