Vol. 416 No. 6

Written Answers. - Office of Public Works Operations.

Roger T. Garland

Question:

212 Mr. Garland asked the Minister for Finance if he intends reviewing the current position of the Office of Public Works under section 84 of the Planning Act 1963; and whether he intends making proposals to the Minister for the Environment in relation to this in the near future.

I have no proposals in this regard. The section in question has far wider application than the operations of the Commissioners of Public Works. In general it facilitates the efficient despatch of public business in the building area while providing for due consultation with the planning authorities and, if necessary, the Minister for the Environment.
