Written Answers. - Bandon (Cork) School.

Jim O'Keeffe

Question:

249 Mr. J. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Education if, in relation to the expressed intention to use the former secondary school as a permanent home for the Bandon boys national school in County Cork, he will give details of the works considered necessary to these premises and in particular, (1) the proposals to improve the playground, (2) the arrangements proposed for improved car-parking and bus pull-in facilities and (3) the refurbishment of classroom accommodation; and if he will confirm that copies of the plans and details of the proposals will be made available to the school boards, the parents action committee and other interested parents.

The works considered necessary to make the former secondary school in Bandon, County Cork suitable to accommodate the boys of St. Patrick's and St. Fintan's national schools are as outlined in the reply to the Deputy's Dáil Questions No. 180 and 181 on 4 February 1992.

My Department's senior architect will visit Bandon next week to outline the proposals in detail to the chairpersons of the boards of management of both schools. It is a matter for them to brief the parents' action committee and any other interested parties.
