Vol. 417 No. 2

Written Answers. - County Cork School.

Michael Creed

Question:

118 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Education if he will outline the current position regarding an application for a new school (details supplied) in County Cork; if he will further outline when the initial representations were made to his Department in connection with the provision of a new school; if he will allocate moneys for the project in 1992; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The provision of a new school was first raised in 1983 but did not proceed for a number of reasons, including the need to concentrate available resources on projects of higher priority. The project has now reached sketch scheme stage. As this is an early stage of planning, the question of allocating funds during the current year does not arise. It is my intention to provide the new school as soon as possible.
