72 Proinsias De Rossa asked the Minister for Justice if he will outline the circumstances in which members of the Garda confiscated leaflets at a meeting calling for the repeal of the Eighth Amendment of the Constitution in a public house in Naas, County Kildare, on 2 March; if he will further outline the alleged offences the gardaí were investigating; whether any warrant had been issued to authorise the gardaí to enter the premises and seize the leaflets; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I can confirm that leaflets were seized by the Garda in Naas on 3 March following a complaint that an alleged offence was taking place.

A file is being prepared on the matter which will be submitted in due course to the law officers for instructions. In the circumstances it would be inappropriate for me to make any further comment on this matter.
