Vol. 418 No. 2

Written Answers. - Castleknock (Dublin) Second Level Schools.

Máirín Quill

Question:

54 Miss Quill asked the Minister for Education if he will identify the second level schools to which children leaving primary schools in Castleknock will have automatic entry from September 1993 onwards.

As indicated in my reply to Questions Nos. 79 and 84 of 27 February last, the second level schools which currently cater for the majority of pupils leaving primary schools in Castleknock can continue to provide for their needs. These schools are: St. Dominic's Secondary School, Navan Road; St. Declan's CBS, Navan Road; Coolmine Community School; St. Joseph's Secondary School, Mount Sackville (fee-paying); and St. Vincent's College, Castleknock (fee-paying).

Enrolment policy is primarily a matter for each school management, subject to the application of acceptable criteria. My Department's main responsibility is to ensure that, overall, there is adequate provision available for pupils in any particular area. I am satisfied that there will be adequate provision this year.
