Vol. 418 No. 6

Written Answers. - Dublin Company's Redundancies.

James C. Tunney

Question:

91 Mr. Tunney asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will outline whether any progress has been made on the matter of safeguarding the position of employees of a company (details supplied) in Dublin 11.

I have no direct function in regard to the day-to-day activities of private firms or the normal daily activities of the IDA. However, I would refer the Deputy to the reply given in the House on Thursday, 2 April 1992 by my colleague Deputy O'Rourke, Minister of State responsible for trade and marketing, to a grievance question in regard to this matter.

The IDA have advised me that every effort is being made to keep redundancies at this firm to a minimum and that they will continue to keep in close contact with the situation in an effort to ensure that the maximum possible number of jobs are preserved at the plant.
