Vol. 418 No. 6

Written Answers. - Appointment of Remedial Teacher.

William Cotter

Question:

106 Mr. Cotter asked the Minister for Education if he will appoint a remedial teacher to be shared by the Inniskeen and Broomfield national schools in County Monaghan; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

As the Deputy will be aware, 80 additional remedial posts serving over 240 schools were allocated in June 1991 under arrangements under the Programme for Economic and Social Progress.

These appointments were made following the collection of data and information by my Department's primary inspectorate from schools. The posts were then allocated on the basis of priority of need, as indicated by the information collected by the inspectorate.

The needs of other schools, including the schools mentioned by the Deputy, will be kept under review.
