Michael Moynihan

Question:

281 Mr. Moynihan asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the reason for the delay in payment of a suckler grant and beef subsidy to a person (details supplied) in County Kerry.

The person was originally deemed ineligible for payment of grants under the 1991 special beef premium scheme because he sold four animals without submitting cattle identity cards for these animals to my Department for checking, stamping and punching as required. Following a review of this case, however, it has now been found possible to pay the premium on the remaining five animals subject to the application passing a computer validation check.

He has been deemed ineligible for payment of grants under the 1991 suckler cow premium scheme because he was a commercial milk producer and he did not apply for grants under the 1991 suckler cow premium scheme for small scale milk producers.
