Vol. 418 No. 7

Written Answers. - Draught Mare Inspection.

Patrick D. Harte

Question:

42 Mr. Harte asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the reason for the inordinate delay in coming to a decision in reply to representations made by Deputy Harte concerning the application by a person (details supplied) in County Donegal for the inspection of an Irish draught mare (details supplied) which was submitted to the appropriate authorities on 3 July 1991, in view of the fact that the owner is anxious to get a decision.

The position is that the inspections of mares for inclusion in the Irish Draught section of the Horse Register are organised and carried out by the Irish Draught Horse Society. Before mares are accepted for inspection my Department provides confirmation on their parentage to the Society. When a request was received in this case information was not available to the Department and the Society was informed accordingly.

This information has since come to hand and the person named has been notified directly.
