Question:113 Mr. Cotter asked the Minister for Labour if he has any plans to change the apprenticeship scheme as it currently operates; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Proposals for a new apprenticeship system were set out in Section V of the Programme for Economic and Social Progress with the funding for the system to be considered under the auspices of the central review committee for the Programme for Economic and Social Progress. Agreement has recently been reached between the social partners on the funding issues and the new system will be implemented in 1993.
