Vol. 419 No. 5
107 Mr. Garland asked the Minister for Finance if, in relation to his reply to Parliamentary Question No. 78 of 5 May 1992, he will provide the details of the lease, such as term of years and conditions.
109 Mr. Garland asked the Minister for Finance if he will outline the boundaries for the third golf course in Killarney; the nature of the land it will encompass; and if he will provide a map showing the boundaries of the land to be used, together with the present or recently past ownership of these lands.
I propose to take Questions Nos. 107 and 109 together.
The terms of the draft lease are that 90 acres of land will be transferred to Killarney Golf Club for a term of 99 years in return for a transfer of the 876 acres and Derrycunnihy Church to the Office of Public Works and subject to the following conditions: (i) building development on the leased area to be prohibited; (ii) no interference with the movement or grazing of red deer; (iii) a public footpath to be developed through the lands linking Killarney town with Fossa; (iv) the Club to keep tree felling to a minimum and to provide compensatory planting; and (v) the layout of the course to be submitted to the Office of Public Works for approval in advance of any works.
The actual boundaries of the course are a matter for Killarney Golf Club. I would not, therefore, be in a position to supply a map of the property involved.
In relation to the 90 acres owned by the Office of Public Works, this land is a managed grassland previously used for cattle grazing.
