Vol. 419 No. 7

Written Answers. - Cork Schools.

Peter Barry

Question:

45 Mr. Barry asked the Minister for Education the number of schools in Cork city and county that are awaiting sanctions for building or extension; the length of the waiting period in each case; whether tenders were invited in each case; if so, when; and when work will commence in each case.

The information sought by the Deputy is set out in a tabular statement which I propose to circulate in the Official Report.

Note 1 — Tenders Invited
When tenders have been received and examined, the question of the placing of contracts will arise for consideration in the context of the available capital resources. It is therefore not possible to say when construction work will commence.
Note 2 — Stages of Planning
The advancement of these projects through the different stages of planning is dependent on the available staffing and capital resources and my Department's other commitments on the primary schools building programme.
