88 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for Education if he will approve the code drafted by the special Government committee on crowd control and public safety.

89 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for Education if he intends to bring forward legislation to put in place new safety regulations at sports stadiums.

90 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for Education if he has any plans to set up a national authority to oversee the implementation of new safety standards at sports grounds.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 88, 89 and 90 together.

I am awaiting the submission of the Code of Practice on Safety at Sports Grounds which is being prepared.

The recommendations of the Hamilton Committee on Public Safety and Crowd Control including the setting up of a National Authority for Safety in Sports Grounds and the introduction of new legislation is being considered by my Department, the Departments of the Environment and the Department of Justice. Any legislative proposals will be announced in the usual way when they have been approved by Government.
