Vol. 420 No. 3

Written Answers. - Disability Benefit Claim Appeal.

Brian O'Shea

Question:

171 Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for Social Welfare the date of the appeal hearing in relation to the disability benefit claim of a person (details supplied) in Waterford.

The person concerned claimed Disability Benefit from 30 August 1991 and was paid up to 18 December 1991 when, following an examination by a Medical Referee, she was deemed to be capable of work. She appealed against this decision to the independent Social Welfare Appeals Office and she was referred for a further medical examination by a different Medical Referee who also deemed her capable of work. Her appeal was referred to an Appeals Officer who proposes to hold an oral hearing of her appeal. This will be arranged for the week commencing 15 June 1992. The person concerned has been in receipt of Unemployment Benefit pending the determination of her appeal.
