Vol. 420 No. 3

Written Answers. - Castlelyons (Cork) Remedial Teacher.

Paul Bradford

Question:

91 Mr. Bradford asked the Minister for Education if he will provide a remedial teacher in September 1992 to serve the three national schools, Britway, Castlelyons and Coolagown in the parish of Castlelyons, County Cork.

As the Deputy will be aware, 80 additional remedial posts serving over 240 schools were allocated in the current school year as part of a national distribution under the Programme for Ecomonic and Social Progress.

These appointments were made following the collection of data and information from schools by my Department's Primary Inspectorate. The posts were then allocated on the basis of priority of need, as indicated by the information collected by the Inspectorate.
The needs of schools which do not have the services of a remedial teacher including the schools mentioned by the Deputy, will be kept under review.
