Vol. 420 No. 6

Written Answers. - River Lee Downstream Crossing.

Gerry O'Sullivan

Question:

154 Mr. G. O'Sullivan asked the Minister for the Environment when the decision on the Lee downstream river crossing, County Cork, will be concluded; when a decision will be made; if there are any delays regarding compulsory purchase orders; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

On 3 April I sought further information from Cork Corporation in relation to the effects on the environment of this proposed development and I expect that this information will be available shortly. Any additional information submitted will have to be made available for inspection by the public, and interested persons will have an opportunity of making submissions to me before a decision can be made on the question of whether the project is acceptable on environmental grounds. I understand that a Compulsory Purchase Order will not be required in this case.
