Vol. 420 No. 7

Written Answers. - County Dublin School Entry.

Brian O'Shea

Question:

65 Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for Education if he will outline his policy in relation to a school (details supplied) in County Dublin which levies a voluntary contribution of £60 to secure a place in first year of second level, and whether such levies are in breach of the commitment in the introduction to the Green Paper to non-selective entry to second level schools for children in the catchment area.

I refer the Deputy to my reply to Parliamentary Question No. 97 of Tuesday, 26 May 1992. I will investigate the case which the Deputy has now brought to my attention to see if there is any breach of the conditions of participation in the free secondary education scheme.
