Vol. 421 No. 4

Written Answers. - Cork Social Welfare Payment Centres.

Michael Creed

Question:

315 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will outline all the centres in the Cork North-West Dáil constituency where unemployment assistance and unemployment benefits are paid.

My Department processes payments for unemployment assistance and unemployment benefit in the Cork North-West constitutency at two local offices which are located in Macroom and Newmarket. Clients living within six miles of these offices are paid in cash in the office while those residing outside this radius are paid at local post offices of their choice.

The local office and post office catchment areas are not aligned with the boundaries of the North-West constituency. This factor makes it difficult to establish quickly the full details requested.

The following is a list of the main local post offices where payments are made within the constituency:

Aghabullogue, Aherla, Ballinagree, Ballingeary, Ballydesmond, Ballymakeera, Ballyvourney, Banteer, Boherbue, Carrigadrohid, Carriganimma, Castlecor, Cecilstown, Clondrohid, Coachford, Coolea, Coppeen, Crookstown, Crossberry, Cullen, Derrinagree, Donoghmore, Dripsey, Dromagh, Farnanes, Farran, Freemount, Inchigeela, Johnstown, Kanturk, Kilbarry, Kilcorney, Kilmichael, Kilmurry, Kilnamartyr, Kiskeam, Knocknagree, Lissacreasig, Lissarda, Liscarroll, Lombardstown, Lyre, Meelin, Milford, Millstreet, Newcestown, Poulnargid, Rathcoole, Renanirree, Rockchapel, Rylane, Tarelton, Templemartin, Toames, Tullylease, Upton.

In addition to these, a small number of persons paid at other offices may also reside in the constituency. If the Deputy has concerns about a particular locality, I can arrange for further research into the situation for that area.
