Vol. 421 No. 8

Written Answers. - Staff Statistics.

Jim Mitchell

Question:

217 Mr. J. Mitchell asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if he will give details of the total number of staff, either full-time or part-time, working (a) in his private ministerial office, (b) in his constituency office and (c) elsewhere in his Department but working personally for him; if he will outline (1) the number, if any, working for him under consultancy agreements or contracts and (2) the salary level or fees payable in each case; and if he will list the names of the people in each case.

In my Department staff are not formally divided into separate constituency and private offices. The situation varies from day to day in each office and staff carry out duties appropriate to both offices as the need arises. The following are the normal equivalent full-time staffing levels for each office: (a) Private ministerial office, 6; (b) Constituency office, 6; (c) Elsewhere in Department, None.

There are three officers employed on a contract basis: Ms. Maeve Bracken, Adviser, £32,800 per annum; Ms. Catherine Whyte, Personal Secretary, £10,541 per annum; Ms. Ellen McCarthy, Personal Assistant, £11,261 per annum.
