71 Mr. Gilmore asked the Minister for Education if he will introduce a scheme of grants, to be funded from the national lottery, to assist sports clubs, especially in disadvantaged areas who are experiencing financial difficulties.
Out of the funds available to my Department from the national lottery for youth and sport activities in general annual grants are made available to vocational education committees for expenditure on youth and sport activities at local level. Vocational education committees are advised to take particular account of projects in disadvantaged areas in disbursing these funds. Beneficiaries would include local sports clubs.
