84 Mr. McCormack asked the Minister for Education if he will give immediate sanction for an extension to the canteen facilities at Galway Regional Technical College as the current facilities are unable to cater for the number of students there; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
A three phase rolling capital development programme has been approved by my Department for Galway Regional Technical College. Tenders have been sought for the first two phases and the third which includes consequential modifications which include an extension of canteen facilities is at planning stage.
To seek tenders now for the third phase would be premature, as the works cannot be readily undertaken until students transfer to the accommodation being provided under Phase 2.
The intention is that tenders for the canteen will be sought as soon as practicable within the framework of the rolling programme.
