Vol. 426 No. 2

Written Answers. - County Louth Schools.

Seamus Kirk

Question:

121 Mr. Kirk asked the Minister for Education the construction commencement date for the building project at Tullyallen primary school, County Louth.

A major building project has been approved for this school and planning permission has been received. Because of other demands, which were judged to be of higher priority, it was not possible to include this project in the national schools capital programme for 1993. It will continue to be considered for inclusion in the school building programme in the light of available resources and other commitments and priorities.

Question:

122 Mr. Kirk asked the Minister for Education the position on the claim for payment for remedial works carried out to Louth and Stonetown primary schools in County Louth.

In the case of Louth national school, details of tenders received before the work in question was carried out have been sought from the Chairman of the Board of Management to enable the Department to decide on the application for payment of a grant. These details are awaited.

In the case of Stonetown national school, my Department's technical advisers have been in touch with the Chairman of the Board of Management in relation to certain aspects of the work carried out and a response is awaited.
