Vol. 426 No. 3

Written Answers. - Redundancy Lump Sum Payment.

Michael Bell

Question:

62 Mr. Bell asked the Minister for Enterprise and Employment the reason for the delay in the payment of a redundancy lump sum to a person (details supplied) in County Louth; and when payment will be made.

My Department received an application for payment of a statutory redundancy lump sum from the Social Insurance Fund, on 26 January 1993, from the person concerned, following a favourable decision from the Employment Appeals Tribunal under the redundancy payments Acts. Before payment could be made from the Fund it was necessary to obtain from the liquidator of the company which formerly employed the person concerned specific information and documentary evidence concerning the financial status of the company. This was requested on 28 January 1993 and was received on 15 February 1993. Accordingly, the person concerned will be paid his statutory redundancy lump sum entitlement within the next few days.
