Written Answers. - Water and Sewerage Schemes.

Mary Coughlan

Question:

96 Miss Coughlan asked the Minister for the Environment if the Donegal town sewerage scheme has been included in the next Structural Funds programme; and when this project will commence.

The inclusion of particular schemes within future operational programmes for Structural Funds purposes does not yet arise. The Donegal town sewerage scheme is still at an early stage of planning and no estimate of a commencement date can be made at this stage.

Mary Coughlan

Question:

97 Miss Coughlan asked the Minister for the Environment the position with regard to the Ballyshannon sewerage scheme, County Donegal.

Donegal County Council have been asked to submit a revised preliminary report as a basis for the further consideration of this proposal.

Dinny McGinley

Question:

98 Mr. McGinley asked the Minister for the Environment the position regarding the plans to provide a sewerage scheme for Burtonport, County Donegal.

As indicated in the reply to Question No. 154 on 12 November 1991, contract documents for the Burtonport sewerage scheme have been approved by my Department. It is now a matter for Donegal County Council to progress the scheme.

Dinny McGinley

Question:

99 Mr. McGinley asked the Minister for the Environment the position regarding the proposed housing scheme for Burtonport, County Donegal.

No proposal for a housing scheme at Burtonport has been received by my Department.

Jimmy Deenihan

Question:

100 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for the Environment if he will provide finance to allow the Rathae/Lyreacrompane water scheme, County Kerry to go to tender to 1993.

Group water scheme grants and contributions from group members are insufficient to finance this scheme which, in consequence, would require a special contribution from the provision for public water and sanitary services schemes. Having regard to the overall demand on the water and sanitary services programme, I cannot say when it may be possible to approve this scheme.

Dinny McGinley

Question:

101 Mr. McGinley asked the Minister for the Environment the number and location of group water schemes in County Donegal awaiting approval.

Work is progressing on approximately 22 schemes in County Donegal. Six schemes are awaiting grant approval and a considerably greater number of schemes are at earlier stages of processing. Further details of these schemes may appropriately be sought from Donegal County Council who have devolved responsibility for the administration of group schemes in their functional area.

Jimmy Deenihan

Question:

102 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for the Environment if he will provide the necessary finance to allow the Asdee group water scheme, County Kerry to go to tender in 1993.

Further progress must await the development of Stage 4 of Listowel regional water supply scheme. Having regard to the overall demand on the water and sanitary services programme, I cannot say when it may be possible to approve this scheme.
