Vol. 427 No. 3

Written Answers. - Peat Generated Electricity Production.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

102 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Transport, Energy and Communications the Government's plans for peat generated electricity production for 1993 and 1994; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The Government is committed to the continued use of peat for electricity generation.

Approximately three million tonnes of peat are planned for consumption in each of the two years 1993 and 1994. The exact details of the quantities of peat to be supplied and used are matters for the ESB and Bord na Móna.
