Question:

249 Mr. Gilmore asked the Minister for Education the number of primary and post primary schools which are wholly or partially accommodated in rented buildings; the amount paid in rent in respect of these schools in the 1991-92 school year; the portion of the rent which is paid by her Department; and if she will give a breakdown by county of the location of these schools.

Information, in the form sought by the Deputy is not readily available in my Department. With regard to primary schools my Department refunds a proportion of approved rental cost in certain cases. The total amount refunded to Priamary Schools in 1992 amounted to £266,000. The number of primary schools by county which received rental refunds in 1992 was as follows:
