Vol. 428 No. 3

Written Answers. - Access to Lands.

Donal Carey

Question:

80 Mr. Carey asked the Minister for Equality and Law Reform if he will take steps to protect the tourism interest in North Clare which is being badly effected by the decision of farmers (details supplied) in County Clare to prevent access to their lands by use of electric fences and trespassers will be prosecuted signs.

This matter relates to the law on occupiers' liability. As already indicated to this House, the law on occupiers' liability is being examined by the Law Reform Commission and it is expected that the commission will publish a consultation document on the subject at an early stage.

Legislation to reform and update the law on occupiers' liability will be prepared in the light of the commission's proposals.
